Founder and Chairman Dr. Abdulla Ibrahim Al Meer outlines how escrow-protected transactions, digital valuations and secure transfers aim to bring greater transparency to trading and broaden access for eligible international collectors.
Trust, transparent pricing and secure ownership transfers are central to Mazal’s plans for Dubai’s premium number plate secondary market. The platform aims to bring greater structure to a trading environment often shaped by fragmented broker negotiations and manual processes, combining verified listings with escrow-protected payments and digital tools for managing collections.
Dr. Abdulla Ibrahim Al Meer, Founder and Chairman of Mazal, explains how the company’s model seeks to protect buyers and sellers while preserving confidentiality and independently negotiated prices. He also discusses the role of data-driven valuations, opportunities to attract eligible international collectors, and partnerships supporting secure payments and Emirati talent development.
Interview excerpts
How does Mazal’s escrow-protected model address trust and security challenges in Dubai’s premium number plate market?
Mazal brings structure, transparency and security to Dubai’s premium number plate secondary market, reducing reliance on fragmented broker negotiations and manual transfers. Before listing, ownership is verified and the plate is transferred into Mazal’s secure custody, registered under the seller’s personal account. Once a sale is agreed, the buyer’s funds are held in escrow and released only after the official ownership transfer is completed and confirmed. Mazal manages verification, payments and transfers while keeping buyers’ and sellers’ identities confidential from each other. This protects both parties, reduces fraud and failed transactions, and supports international participation, subject to applicable regulatory requirements.
What role will data-driven valuations play in bringing greater transparency to premium number plate trading?
Mazal uses data-driven technology to assess premium number plate values based on rarity, digit combinations, historical transactions, demand and comparable plates. Its Digital Valuation Certificate gives buyers and sellers a data-backed reference for negotiations. The Digital Number Plate Portfolio allows owners to register and manage collections without selling, with monthly estimated valuation updates helping collectors and international investors monitor market movements and holdings remotely. These tools bring greater transparency to valuation while preserving market freedom. Mazal does not dictate prices: buyers and sellers negotiate independently, and supply and demand ultimately determine the final transaction price agreed between the two parties.
How does Mazal plan to differentiate its platform from traditional brokers and informal trading channels?
Mazal supports the premium number plate ownership journey through auctions, verified marketplace listings and confidential Private Deals using unique transaction codes. Privacy features let sellers hide plate codes until buyers pay the required deposit, while Number Wishlist alerts customers when desired plates become available. Digital valuation certificates, monthly portfolio valuations and secure ownership transfers extend support beyond trading. Its Number Gifting Experience offers four presentation categories, with QR certificates enabling recipients to complete ownership transfers securely.
Mazal also aims to attract international collectors and investors, subject to ownership requirements, expanding global demand and liquidity while leaving pricing to market forces.
What growth opportunities do you see as premium number plates increasingly emerge as collectible and investment assets?
Dubai’s premium number plates combine cultural significance, scarcity and potential financial value. We see growth opportunities in modernising the secondary market through greater transparency, security, efficiency and digital access. Mazal’s Digital Portfolio and monthly valuations help owners monitor collections and make informed holding or selling decisions. Enabling eligible international collectors and investors to participate could attract capital, broaden demand, improve liquidity and increase transaction volumes while preserving these assets’ cultural identity. Longer term, we envision extending Mazal to other high-value asset categories, building trusted digital infrastructure that supports a more accessible, transparent and professionally managed market for distinctive collectible assets.
How will Mazal’s partnerships with Transguard and TASC support secure transactions and the company’s wider UAE growth strategy?
Mazal combines technology with trusted infrastructure, operational expertise and local talent. Our collaboration with Transguard provides secure cash collection for customers who prefer cash payments. We will soon announce a strategic agreement with a reputable UAE money exchange firm, adding convenient, secure payment options through its established network. Our collaboration with TASC supports Emiratisation by helping attract and develop Emirati professionals across our operations. Expansion will create opportunities in digital commerce, financial technology, customer experience, asset valuation and international market development. These partnerships support our ambition to build a globally accessible platform with strong Emirati roots and reliable transaction processes.
