RIYADH — Land, sea, and air customs ports across Saudi Arabia recorded 1,078 seizures of contraband last week. The seized items included 107 types of narcotics such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, crystal meth, and Captagon pills, in addition to 402 other prohibited materials. Customs ports also foiled attempts to smuggle 2,024 tobacco products and their derivatives, along with 30 types of cash and two types of weapons and related equipment. The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at Al-Haditha Port has foiled an attempt to smuggle 1,950,581 amphetamine pills into the Kingdom. ZATCA spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi said security screening and inspection found the contraband concealed inside a shipment of lentils aboard an incoming truck. Al-Harbi emphasized that the authority remains committed to tightening customs control across all land, sea, and air ports to protect society from narcotics, in close coordination with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control.
